Big Sur March 2023

Land Meets Water

Landscape artist Francis McComas described Big Sur as "The greatest meeting of land and water in the world." And he was right: for almost 100 miles, visitors can experience amazing views with photography opportunities around every turn.

Big Sur, located on the central California coast, is part of the Los Padres National Forest and includes the Ventana and Silver Peak Wilderness areas. California Highway 101 traces this magical stretch of coastline from Carmel in the north to Cambria in the south. The highway tenuously hugs the Santa Lucia Mountains, while the pounding surf of the Pacific Ocean crashes below.

Including iconic locations such as Garrapata Beach, Bixby Bridge, Hurricane Point, Point Sur, Pfeiffer Beach and McWay Fall, the Big Sur coastline never fails to impress.Land Meets Water
